Make sure that you have the Preview box checked to get a live preview with the applied effect and to notice any changes. This will open the Drop Shadow window, where you can select the settings of your drop shadow in Illustrator. ![]() You can easily outline a raster layer since you can't put a Shape Layer stroke around it. To add a drop shadow in Illustrator, select your shape (s) and just go to Effect > Stylize > Drop Shadow. If you want to scale or rotate a layer with a shadow and have it look accurate, or as Adirai mentioned, use the Global Light property, then the Layer Style is best.Īnother Layer Style to look at is Stroke. Knowing both of these will help you to decide what's the best tool to use. But I would not do this as it is going to not look right. You can reorder them, mask them, and access them in the Effects Controls panel. You can duplicate & then mask all the face shadowed area feather the masks & then play with the brightness if you want to remove the shadows. ![]() In general I stick with effects because overall there's more flexibility. ![]()
